Encompass opens NY office

   Encompass Global Logistics said it has opened a New York office to oversee current business, and develop new customers in the U.S. North and Southeast.
   The Irvine, Calif.-based 3PL said the regional headquarters was part of an ongoing strategy to offer locations near its customers.
   Tom Hickey, formerly of DHL, has joined Encompass to head the New York office. He served as vice president for fashion retail and national accounts at DHL Express. managed a 60-member Northeast national accounts team and oversaw a business strategy that resulted in DHL’s sponsorship of Fashion Week activities in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
   He is joined by two new sales directors – Thomas O’Rourke and Christine Johnson Haddad. O’Rourke was vice president of business development at Network America Lines, and has also worked for NYK, CP Ships and Cast North America, while Johnson Haddad’s experience includes more than 20 years as a senior account executive for Maersk Line.
   “We opened a new regional headquarters office in midtown Manhattan to place our team closer to the diversified, international customer base located in this fast-paced and growing region,” said Asa Cheng, Encompass chief executive officer, in a statement.
