Another transpacific service suspended

Another transpacific service suspended    Hainan PO Shipping and TS Lines have pulled one of their three jointly operated transpacific services, according to the lines' online schedules.
   Maritime news outlets reported Wednesday that the lines had immediately stopped running their TP1 loop. The two lines, one a mainland China-based startup and the other a predominantly intra-Asia Taiwan-based line, introduced the service in May.
   It had a rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Long Beach and Ningbo, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data. The service operated with four vessels with an average capacity of 2,842 TEUs.
   Though the suspension of the service couldn't be confirmed immediately by American Shipper, there is no longer mention of the loop on the Hainin PO Shipping’s online schedules.
   It's the second sign this week of slowing demand from the Shanghai-Ningbo region to North America, with Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., and CMA CGM deciding to postpone the introduction until 2012 of a service with an identical rotation as the Hainan-TS Lines TP1.
   Hainan PO Shipping and TS Lines operate two other transpacific services:
   ' The TP2, with a rotation of Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Long Beach, Oakland and Xiamen.
   ' The TP3, with a rotation of Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Long Beach, Oakland, Busan and Qingdao.
   All of the ports called in the TP1 are covered by the TP3, albeit with transit times that are one day slower. ' Eric Johnson
