   Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards ASA has named Torstein Dale Sj'tveit as its new president and chief executive officer, starting Sept. 1.
   Sj'tveit was president of Hydro Aluminum Metals, a division of global industrial company Norsk Hydro. Since joining Hydro in 1981, he has been part of its corporate management and held a number of senior management positions within different areas of the group.

   Aker’s chairman of the board of directors, Svein Sivertsen, has acted as interim CEO since March when the company began looking for a replacement to Yrj' Julin who departed after just eight months in charge of the company following disappointing financial results.
   “We are very pleased that we get Torstein Dale Sj'tveit in as the new CEO for Aker Yards. He brings with him an understanding of hands on management combined with a strong industrial experience and a strategic approach to further developing the business and the organization,” Sivertsen said.
