Porsche North America moves to JAXPORT

The car company announced it will make the switch from the Port of Brunswick to the Port of Jacksonville as its new port of entry for the Southeastern United States effective October 2015.    Porsche Cars of North America, Inc. (PCNA) will begin importing cars bound for dealers in the Southeastern United States through the Port of Jacksonville effective Oct. 2015, according to a statement from JAXPORT.
   Since 2002, PCNA had utilized the Port of Brunswick in Georgia as its entry hub in the Southeastern U.S. with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics as its processor at the port.
   In May, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. made the switch from the Port of Brunswick to the Port of Jacksonville to import and distribute Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley vehicles throughout the Southeastern U.S.
   Porsche vehicles destined for dealers in the Southeastern U.S. travel on the same vessels as Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley vehicles, PCNA Vehicle Logistics Manager Howard Chang said. When those vehicles began shipping into the Port of Jacksonville, it necessitated an inefficient extra stop for every vessel, he explained.
   “Porsche conducted an extensive bid process and found JAXPORT and the selected processing company, AMPORTS, offered the optimum combination of efficiency, quality, and service,” added Chang.
   PCNA’s other ports of entry are located in Davisville, R.I.; Houston, Texas; and San Diego, Calif. In addition, the company said it will continue to import genuine Porsche replacement parts through the Port of Savannah, Ga.
