DHX splits services, changes international name to DGX DHX Inc., a neutral third-party ocean intermediary servicing the Pacific Rim, has divided its international and Hawaiian ocean and air services. ‘We have concluded that (they) are two separate and distinct businesses,’ said Ron Massman, chairman of newly created DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express, Inc. As part of the split, DHX Inc. changed its name to DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express and established a new corporation, Dependable Global Express Inc., or DGX, to handle its worldwide services. ‘We realized the need to move our international business out from under the DHX umbrella in order to continue (its) growth trend. At the same time, the development of separate corporations will allow the company to focus better,’ said Brad Dechter, president of DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express. As DHX, based in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., the company has shipped to Hawaii since 1977, to Guam since 1981, and to international destination since 1999. It offers ocean service and air freight for imports, exports and intermodal shipments; logistics coordination, and warehousing. Under the new split structures, DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express will provide a weekly, less-than-containerload and full containerload program between the United States and Hawaii. DGX will continue to provide services to Europe, Guam, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and the Far East via Singapore, Vietnam and mainland China.
