ICS plans to break ground on the project in January and seeks to complete it in the fourth quarter of next year. It will be a 227,564-square-foot facility capable of storing products at temperatures ranging from -10 degrees to ambient temperatures. There will be more than 28,000 pallet positions. A future phase would increase the temperature-controlled square footage by another 147,000 square feet, adding an additional 18,000 pallet positions.
ICS has four existing warehouses in Jacksonville. The new Imeson facility will increase its perishable storage capacity in Jacksonville to more than 600,000 square feet.
The company said the site was selected because of its proximity to the Jacksonville Port Authority’s Talleyrand, Blount Island and Dames Point terminals, major roadways and the CSX railroad.
“This facility will help meet that need and support ICS’s four existing warehouse operations in Jacksonville as well as leverage ICS’s port terminal infrastructure through increased stevedoring and transportation volumes,' said Terry Brown, president of ICS Logistics. 'In addition, the new MOL and Hanjin container terminals will require additional perishable storage and handling services to support the new Asian liner calls.”
