The Tauro Rickmers, delivered May 31, and the Libra Rickmers, to be delivered at the end of July, are the final vessels of an eight-ship series from Hyundai Heavy Industries. The vessels will be renamed the Maersk Evora and Maersk Essex during their charter period.
Maersk will deploy the vessels on its AE2 service between Asia and Europe. The AE2 has a rotation of Busan, Hakata, Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Said, Valencia, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Antwerp, Felixstowe, Singapore and Busan.
The standalone service operates with 11 vessels, with an average capacity of 8,641 TEUs, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.
