CaroTrans to commence Taiwan to New York LCL service

The non-vessel operating common carrier will launch a less-than-container-load import service between Taiwan and New York.    Non-vessel operating common carrier CaroTrans will launch a less-than-container-load (LCL) import service between Taiwan and New York Dec. 4, the company said.
   The new service features a 32-day transit from the Taiwanese cities of Taichung, Kaohsiung and Keelung. In addition, the LCL service offers express connections to Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
   Carotrans already offers two other direct import services from Taiwan to the United States, with a service to Chicago and a service to Los Angeles. 
   Taiwan is a key exporter of electronics and electronic components, basic metals, plastics, rubber, optical and photographic instruments and chemicals.
   In 2014, bilateral trade between the U.S. and Taiwan stood at $67.4 billion, making Taiwan the U.S.’s 10th largest trading partner, according to U.S.-Taiwan CONNECT, which is run by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs to provide information on U.S.-Taiwan relations.
