Fuchs will work in the Chicago-based firm’s Washington office, and will focus on three domestic and international areas:
* Federal agencies, such as U.S. Customs and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
* House and Senate, World Trade Organization and World Customs Organization.
* Trade Associations and advisory committees.
“She will work on behalf of clients in all these areas to initiate, shape and influence the development of laws, regulations, policies and trade agreements that affect clients’ interests,” KMZ Rosenman said. “She will also assist clients with compliance reviews, strategic planning and legal advice on complex issues such as origin, implementation of trade preference programs, supply chain security, internal controls, self-assessments, government audits and compliance programs.”
Before joining KMZ Rosenman, Fuchs served 14 years with Motorola and was recently the company’s vice president and director of global trade compliance. She also served as counsel for the Defense Department’s Defense Fuel Supply Center prior to joining Motorola.
In Washington, Fuchs has worked with the American Electronics Association and has been active on the board and executive committee of the American Association of Exporters and Importers.
She is serving a second two-year appointment to the U.S. Treasury Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of the U.S. Customs Service (COAC). In this role, Fuchs will work on an array of Customs issues, such as implementation of the agency’s advance manifest regulation, focused assessments audits, implementation of 2002 Trade Act provisions, and development processes for broader informed compliance rulings.
