In a note late last week, the line said it has begun assessing a $100-per-TEU congestion surcharge for inbound cargo to the ports of Jakarta and Semarang and a $50 per TEU surcharge for Surabaya, Panjang and Belawan.
The line said a high volume of import cargo has caused Indonesian ports to operate past their maximum design capacity.
'With the fasting month approaching, we are expecting the terminal operations to be seriously affected,' the line said.
