The Axis Group moves into Sunset Park

The Axis Group moves into Sunset Park The Axis Group, an automobile shipping company based in Decatur, Ga., is setting up shop in Sunset Park on the Brooklyn waterfront.
   The city believes the company will bring about 300 jobs to the area, along with $32 million in revenue over the next 15 years of the lease, reports the Park Slope Courier.
   Axis will take up 74 of the 88 acres located in the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. Before the company begins operation in March 2008, the city said it would invest $40 million in operations to improve the infrastructure, including paving. In return, Axis will provide $13 million for initial capital improvements, $31 million for maintenance of the facilities over the next 20 years.
   In addition, Axis will contribute $100,000 a year to the maintenance of a park project near the piers.
