WORLD AIR CARGO TRAFFIC ROSE BY 3.6% IN JULY    World air cargo traffic increased by 3.6 percent in July and by 7.7 percent in the first seven months of the year, according to statistics published by Geneva-based Airports Council International.
   The total traffic for July was 5.2 million tons. For the period from January to July, the volume amounted to 36.1 million tons.
   Comparing figures for July 2000 with those of July 1999, North American traffic was down by 1.6 percent, to 2.3 million tons. Traffic for Asia-Pacific airports was up by 12.4 percent, to 1.5 million tons. European airports’ cargo traffic was up by 6.4 percent, to 1.1 million tons.
   For the first seven months of the year, North American traffic was up by 4.9 percent, to 16.5 million tons. Asia-Pacific volumes rose by 13.7 percent, to 9.7 million tons. European traffic increased by 8.5 percent, to 7.3 million tons.
