Southwest Cargo takes off to Mexico

The belly cargo carrier began shipping internationally with flights between Houston and Mexico City.    Southwest Airlines Cargo’s international shipping program took off Sunday with service between Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport and Mexico City in both directions.
   Later this summer, the belly cargo carrier plans to begin shipping goods between the United States other locations across Mexico — including Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos — before expanding cargo service to other international destinations.
   The flights between the U.S. and Mexico are expected to carry e-commerce goods, perishables, fresh cut flowers and some pharmaceuticals, a company spokesperson said.
   All of Southwest Cargo’s shipments are transported as belly cargo through Southwest’s 737 passenger flights, the spokesperson added.
