Panalpina appoints CIO

   Panalpina, a provider of supply chain solutions, has appointed Rod Angwin  as its Chief Information Officer (CIO). Angwin has over 30 years of IT experience with major retail and consumer brands, and will focus his work at Panalpina on defining IT services and rolling out industry-specific customer facing solutions.
   Angwin will begin his role on September 3, 2012. His most recent work was as Group CIO for the international multi-brand builders’ merchant, Wolseley.
   “Rod Angwin is experienced in defining and leading major systems programs in large global firms. He has a good grasp of technology but also sees the bigger picture and understands the commercial implications of IT”, said Panalpina’s CEO Monika Ribar.  
   When Panalpina references industry-specific customer facing IT solutions, they mean developing systems that meet customer needs while also improving the connection between Panalpina and its customers. The goal is to build something that can handle all of the data from IT systems as close to real-time as possible and bring all of this goods and transportation information to all the partners involved in the supply chain.
