DB Schenker rebrands beverage branch

   DB Schenker, based in Berlin, is combining its ocean freight services geared to the beverage industry under the new name DB SCHENKERbeverages.
   The service previously had a large focus on wine and liquor and was called DB SCHENKERwine.
   “The new product name is a simple necessity,” said Diederick de Vroet, head of DB Schenker Logistics’ worldwide ocean freight activities. The freight forwarder transports more than 40 million bottles of wine destined for the German market alone each year.
   DB Schenker will continue to offer services, such as handling commissioning and temporary storage in the country of production or destination; temperature controlled transportation by land, sea, and air; and customs and insurance documentation and other work.
   The company will also offer beverage shippers DB SCHENKERsmartbox, which tracks these goods in real-time, while monitoring activities such as location, temperature, humidity, door alarms, and vibrations. The company already markets this offering to wine makers.
