A.P. Moller-Maersk gives “Emma Maersk” a sister
Less than two months after naming the world’s largest container ship, “Emma Maersk,” A.P. Moller-Maersk Monday named its first sistership, “Estelle Maersk,” at the group’s Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark.The Danish group has given the ships a declared capacity of 11,000-TEUs but they are believed to have a physical capacity of about 14,800 TEUs. The ships dimensions are 397 meters (1,302.5 feet) long, 56 meters (183.7 feet) wide and 30 meters (98.4 feet) deep.
A.P. Moller-Maersk has eight of the ships on order for deployment in the Asia/Europe trade.
