MSC to levy China THCs in new year    Liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. said this week it will begin assessing a terminal handling charge on all inbound and outbound cargo at Chinese ports.
   As of Jan. 1, the THC will be $86 per 20-foot container, $135 per 40-foot or 45-foot container, $94 per 20-foot reefer container, and $146 per 40-foot or 45-foot reefer container for all destinations except to and from the United States.
   On Jan. 15, the same THCs will then be applied to U.S. import and export shipments at Chinese ports.
   MSC also said it will raise rates by $200 per TEU on shipments from Southeast Asia to Australia on Jan. 15. The increase is applicable on origin ports in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore.
