Tianjin selected for Airbus final assembly line in China

Tianjin selected for Airbus final assembly line in China    European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and Chinese civil aviation industry body, the National Development & Reform Commission of China (NDRC), have selected Tianjin as the site for a potential A320-family aircraft final assembly line in China.
   In December 2005, Airbus and the NDRC signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation between the two parties.
   A final decision on whether a final assembly line in China gets the go-ahead is expected September. If agreement is reached, operations are targeted to start in Tianjin in 2008, with a production ramp up to four aircraft per month by 2011.
   In a separate development, Air China Thursday became the first mainland China airline to take delivery of a A330-200 from Airbus.
   Air China will use the aircraft in its high-altitude route operation in China’s domestic market.
