Safmarine names Horn as Jones’ Africa region replacement

Safmarine names Horn as Jones’ Africa region replacement Safmarine Container Lines said Wednesday that Jonathan Horn will take over from Alan Jones as its Africa region executive, effective May 1.

   Horn joined Safmarine in 2004 as customer services executive for the Africa region. Jones, who joined Safmarine in February 1976, will become senior key account executive for the carrier’s South African accounts, until his retirement in October 2009. He will also serve as a board member of Roadwing, a division of Safmarine Pty Ltd.
   'In view of Africa's importance to Safmarine and our longstanding relationships with our customers in this region, we felt it opportune to adopt a phased approach to my eventual retirement at the end of next year — and after 33 years with Safmarine,” Jones said.
   Belgium headquartered Safmarine is part of the Danish A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.
