CMA CGM to establish shipping, technology incubator

The French ocean carrier will partner with three organizations to create a startup incubator in Marseilles, as announced by CEO Rodolphe Saadé at the Marseilles trade fair.    French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced plans to establish a shipping and technology startup incubator in Marseilles.
   The company made the announcement at a Marseilles trade fair, the Salon des Entrepreneurs, and stated that the project will support the Carburateur, the incubator for the northern districts of Marseilles, and will engage in three partnerships. CMA CGM intends to partner with Aix Marseille French Tech in digital innovation; The Camp, an “innovative campus bringing together large companies, start-ups, teachers and researchers”; and Infosys, a global IT provider for information systems.
   The project is also a product of the initiates of the Corporate Venture fund, CMA CGM Ventures. 
   “With this project, CMA CGM wishes to play a leading role not only in the economic development of the territory but also in the development of start-ups,” said Rodolphe Saadé, CEO of CMA CGM Group. “The incubator complements the Group’s digital ecosystem to accelerate its transformation and benefit from the best in the world, in the interests of our customers, the society and the territory.”
   Last year, Partners Ted Alling, Barry Large and Allan Davis launched Dynamo, an incubator for transportation and logistics start-up ventures based in Chattanooga, Tenn. Dynamo was established to help logistics startups accelerate their business opportunities and has since welcomed two batches of startups out of more than 120 applicants into its fold.
