Descartes releases driver’s license compliance program

   Descartes Systems Group has unveiled a driver’s license verification solution linked up with the United Kingdom’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.
   Company officials say the online service will allow clients to easily show the government that their drivers are compliant with regulations.
  “All UK employers need to ensure that their drivers hold a valid driving licence,” said Mike Ryder, TMS Analysis Ltd.’s managing director, in a statement. “We work with some of the largest fleets in the UK, and are happy to be able to make the Descartes SmartLicence service available to our clients for effective management of driving licences and fast licence verification with the DVLA.”
   Steve Fisher, managing director at Descartes Systems Group UK, said the system helps customers avoid fines and other penalties.
   “Every transport operator needs systems and procedures in place to help them meet their legal responsibilities,” he said. “We’re pleased to provide a solution that assists busy Transport Managers in managing compliance with tachograph regulations, drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive and, now, verifying driving licenses on one integrated platform.”
