MOL splits Far East/India service

MOL splits Far East/India service    Liner carrier MOL said Wednesday it is splitting a service connecting Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent into two separate loops, with one of the new loops incorporating calls to China.
   The line's existing three-ship NKX service, which it operates with Samudera, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, will split into the NCX service and KPX service as of late May.
   The NCX will have a rotation of Shanghai, Da Chan Bay, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Port Klang, Singapore and Shanghai. It will operate with four vessels with an average capacity of 2,500 TEUs.
   The KPX will have a rotation of Singapore, Pipavav, Karachi, Colombo, Penang, Port Klang and Singapore. It will operate with three vessels averaging 2,500 TEUs.
   The China calls on the NCX provide the first direct connection for MOL to Nhava Sheva, the line said. Splitting the NKX will also see calls at four Indian Subcontinent ports split among the two services. The existing NKX has a rotation of Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Karachi, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Port Klang and Singapore. MOL provides two ships on the service and Samudera one. Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line, Sea Consortium, and Orient Express Lines takes slots on the current NKX.
