AN225 TAKES FIRST COMMERCIAL CHARTER FLIGHT

AN225 TAKES FIRST COMMERCIAL CHARTER FLIGHT    Antononv Airlines and Air Foyle HeavyLift (AFH) launched the first commercial flight of an ANN225 on Jan 2, from Stuttgart, Germany, to Thumrait, in Southern Oman, carrying 187 tons of ready meals for American military personnel in the region.
   A second AN225 flight, plus an AN124 charter, have been fixed by AFH through ProAir Charter Transport GmbH, a German charter broker, to operate Saturday from Munich to Bicker, the capital of Kyrgystan. The AN225 was preparing to carry 230 tons of prepared meals while the AN124 charter was chartered to fly another 116 tons of prepared meals over the weekend.
   The 275-foot long AN225 has a wingspan of 290 feet with a pressurized cargo cabin measuring 141 feet long. The plane can carry loads of up to 32 feet in diameter and 229 feet in length. Antonov is completing the assembly of a second AN225 to support future commercial charter flights.
