Maersk, MSC to start two more Asia/Australia service    Maersk Sealand said today it will cooperate with Mediterranean Shipping Co. on two additional loops from North and Central Asia to Australia in February.
   The North Asia loop will call: Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
   The Central Asia loop will have a port rotation of: Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
   No details of the number and size of the ships to be deployed on the two new services were disclosed.
   The world’s two largest carriers already operate the joint weekly “East Australia/Wallaby” service, which uses five ships averaging 3,466 TEUs and calls: Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Busan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and back to Yokohama.
   The two new services will be operated as part of the enlarged “Maersk Line” network following A.P. Moller-Maersk’s takeover of P&O Nedlloyd.
