Preliminary reports indicated that there were no personnel injuries or oil pollution as a result of the incident. CSCL Hamburg is one of 22 ships that Seaspan charters to China Shipping Container Lines.
Seaspan said it is coordinating with Egyptian authorities and other parties to inspect and refloat the vessel. Off-hire and repair costs are being assessed. Insurance is expected to cover any repair costs.
Seaspan owns a fleet of 42 containerships that it charters to liner companies under long-term charters and has an additional 26 ships on order to be delivered in the next 30 months.
