UPS, U.S. Commerce Department partner to promote exports Atlanta-based UPS has joined with the Commerce Department's U.S. Commercial Service in an effort to promote and simplify exports for U.S.-based small and medium-sized firms.
   The U.S. Commercial Service’s export services network extends around the world to more than 250 branches in 78 countries, assisting companies to enter international markets with services including market research, trade events and introduction to qualified buyers and distributors as well as counseling and advocacy.
   “Exports are on the rise and there has never been a better time to trade,” said Israel Hernandez, Assistant Secretary for Trade Promotion and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service. “More than 70 percent of the world’s purchasing power is beyond our borders, and this agreement will make it easier for U.S. businesses to establish and grow their international sales.”
   Alan Gershenhorn, president of UPS International, said: “Our teaming with the U.S. Commercial Service will give small and medium-sized exporters the necessary resources to move goods, information and funds seamlessly around the world.”
