U.S. air cargo ended 2004 with busy December    International air freight and express cargo carried by U.S. airlines rose 16 percent to 1 billion revenue ton-miles in December, finishing a year of strong volumes on transpacific and transatlantic routes.
   The U.S. Air Transport Association, which published the statistics, reported freight and express activity on Pacific routes increased 15 percent to 529 million revenue ton-miles in December. Cargo on Atlantic routes grew 18 percent 408 million revenue ton-mile, while Latin routes increased 13 percent to 106 million revenue ton-miles.
   For 2004 freight and express cargo carried by the association’s airlines on all routes increased 11 percent to 12.2 billion revenue ton-miles. Activity on Pacific routes increased 14 percent to 6.2 billion revenue ton-miles, Atlantic routes rose 10 percent to 4.8 billion ton-miles, and Latin routes improved 4 percent to 1.2 billion ton-miles.
   ATA airlines are Aloha, Alaska, America West, American, ATA, Continental (including Micronesia), Delta, FedEx, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, United, UPS and U.S. Airways.
