Shippers’ Voice Web site launched

Shippers’ Voice Web site launched A new Web site officially launched last week for shippers and other supply chain stakeholders to express their views and vent frustrations.
The Shippers’ Voice (www.shippersvoice.com) is the free-to-use brainchild of Andrew Traill, managing partner of The Voice of the Shipper LLP, an equal-share joint venture between Traill's SV2 Ltd., Chester research consultancy MDS Transmodal, and MissionMKG, a London-based public relations and marketing firm specializing in the freight business.
The site will offer user-verified commodity forecasting data as well as hosting forums, blogs and opinion polls on industry developments. It also has an information and services Toolbox directory and runs Shippers' Councils news and notices on things like fuel surcharges and security regulations.
“I believe it is very important for the freight industry and policy makers to be fully aware of what shippers really think and want,” said Trail, who has 20 years experience in the shipping and logistics field including 12 years with British shipper representative The Freight Transport Association.
“It is equally important that shippers have a good level of understanding of the issues that impact on freight services. Combined, this will foster better relationships between shippers and their freight service providers, which in turn will be reflected in better, more efficient, sustainable freight services that meet shippers' needs.
“This, in parallel with and complementary to the work, activities and services of the shippers' councils, is the ultimate aim of The Shippers' Voice.”
(An interview with Traill discussing the new project is in the October American Shipper, pages 36-38.)
