CN’s net income up 75% in second quarter

CN’s net income up 75% in second quarter    Canadian National Railway Co. Thursday reported second quarter net income of C$729 million ($642 million) up 75 percent from C$416 million in the same period last year.
   CN’s second quarter results included a tax recovery of C$250 million ($220 million).
   Quarterly operating income was up 13 percent to C$805 million ($709 million) from C$713 million. Revenue increased 6 percent to C$1.95 billion ($1.72 billion) from C$1.84 billion.
   After six months, CN reported net income of C$1.09 billion ($960 million), up 53 percent compared to C$715 million in the first half 2005. CN’s operating income improved 15 percent to C$1.43 billion ($1.26 billion) from C$1.24 million. Revenue increased 7 percent to C$3.79 billion ($3.34 billion) from $3.54 billion.
