President Bush’s pick for BIS chief completes confirmation hearing The Senate Banking Committee wrapped up a confirmation hearing late last week for President Bush’s pick to lead the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security.
   If confirmed by the Senate, Mario Mancuso will serve as undersecretary of commerce for export administration and head of the department’s Bureau of Industry and Security. BIS is in charge of enforcing the country’s commercial export controls and treaty compliance system.
   Mancuso most recently served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for special operations and combating terrorism. Prior to his government service, he was an attorney with New York law firm Shearman & Sterling.
