U.S. Lines has provided a single weekly transpacific service connecting South China and Hong Kong to Long Beach, Calif.
Under the new slot charter agreement, filed with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission, U.S. Lines will be allowed to buy slots from Hanjin in the trade between China and the U.S. Pacific Coast.
Based in Santa Ana, Calif., U.S. Lines entered the transpacific trade in late December. The carrier is managed by Ed Aldridge, former senior executive with APL and Sea-Land Service.
