Broward Alliance recognizes ?world class? professor

Broward Alliance recognizes ôworld classö professor The Broward Alliance, a public-private partnership for promoting commerce and trade in Broward County, has selected Mahmood Shivji of Nova Southeastern University as the recipient of this year's 'World Class Faculty' award.
   The award is presented as part of the Broward Alliances 'Educational Excellence Builds Business' campaign, which stressed local education and training the assures a quality workforce for local businesses.
   Shivji is the director of the Guy Harvey Research Institute, and is a professor of marine biology and genetics at Nova Southeastern's Oceanographic Center and Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to his duties as director of the research institute, he operates a research lab and mentors graduate students at NSU's Oceanographic Center, which focuses on marine conservation biology and technology.
   In selecting Shivji for the award, the Broward Alliance noted the research institute has attracted worldwide attention for its research into national fisheries management practices.
