Turning uncertainty into opportunity

A new report from American Shipper says rising protectionism can be combatted with process structure and automation    A new report from American Shipper highlights the importance of building structure and automation into importers’ and exporters’ global trade compliance processes to combat extreme uncertainty in 2017.
   The report, Changing Trade Winds: Using Structure and Automation to Combat an Uncertain Trade Environment, looks at how rising protectionist stance in North America and Europe may change governmental trade policies and regulations, and how companies can build internally to withstand such change.
   Uncertainty surrounds the global trade environment these days, from potential changes to existing free trade agreements, reforms to regulations like rules of origin, development of new bilateral agreements, and sanctions or removal of sanctions from trading partners.
   The report, American Shipper’s annual GTM Landscape Study, suggests developing internal compliance programs and turning to global trade management automation tools are the best ways to not only safeguard against uncertainty, but prosper amid trying times.
   The report was produced with American Shipper partner BPE Global, a global trade management consultancy.
