Chu will replace, John Slosar who will become Cathay's chief executive on March 31, when current CEO Tony Tyler leaves the airline to become director-general and chief executive officer of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Chu joined Cathay in 1984 and has worked with the airline in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia in general manager roles for Taiwan and Korea, Southeast Asia, international affairs and Southwest Pacific. He was appointed director of service delivery in September 2008.
