New World carriers tweak 3 TP rotations

The New World Alliance will tweak the rotation of three of its transpacific services in the next two weeks, according to an advisory from NWA member MOL.
The rotation changes affect the alliance’s PS1, PS2, and SAX services, which are all predominantly operated by NWA member APL.
The PS1 service will drop a call in Singapore, and add a call at Kaohsiung. The revised rotation, as of Dec. 13, will be Chiwan, Yantian, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Busan, Seattle, Vancouver, Yokohama, Kaohsiung, and Chiwan.
According to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, the service is operated with six vessels (five from APL and one from Hyundai Mercant Marine, the third member of the NWA), with an average capacity of 5,810 TEUs. Hamburg Sud takes slots on the service.
The PS2 loop will see calls in Yantian and Kaohsiung dropped in favor of Xiamen and Shanghai. The revised rotation, as of Dec. 19, will be Chiwan, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai, Oakland, Los Angeles, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Los Angeles, Yokohama, Kaohsiung, and Chiwan. The service is operated with seven APL vessels with an average capacity of 5,988 TEUs. Hapag-Lloyd takes slots on the service. MOL, it should be noted, does not list the Mexican port calls in its advisory.
Finally, the SAX service will see a call at Xiamen dropped, while calls to Kaohsiung and Busan will be added. The revised rotation, as of Dec. 17, will be Singapore, Yantian, Chiwan, Kaohsiung, Los Angeles, Busan, Kaohsiung, Chiwan, and Singapore. The service is operated with seven vessels with an average capacity of 5,102 TEUs, but has skipped some sailings in recent weeks during the winter slack season. – Eric Johnson
