ITC: French sodium metal imports do not injure U.S. industry The U.S. International Trade Commission determined Thursday that the domestic industry is 'neither materially injured nor threatened with material injury' by imports of sodium metal from France, although the Commerce Department has determined the commodity is sold in the United States at less than fair value.
   As a result of the commission's negative determination, no antidumping order will be issued.
   Sodium metal is classified in the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule under subheading 2805.11.00. The commodity is used as an input in the production of a variety of chemicals and in the refining of certain metals.
   DuPont petitioned the U.S. government for the antidumping investigation.
   The quantity sodium metal imports subject to the U.S. investigation in 2007 was 13.4 million pounds, valued at $12.5 million, the ITC said.
