Volga-Dnepr brings new freighters to Paris-Vatry

   Volga-Dnepr Airlines has signed an agreement with Paris-Vatry Airport, located to the east of Paris, to base up to three IL-76TD-90VD freighters at the airport.
   The carrier recently invested more than $100 million on its fleet of five IL-76TD-90VD freighters. The craft are more fuel efficient and less noisy than than the older IL-76 planes, which had been banned in Australia, Europe, Japan and North American. The planes also have an increased range and payload.
   “Together with Volga-Dnepr, we will now be able to provide a solution that will significantly enhance our position in the logistics market,” the airport’s Youri Bussan said in a statement. “Over 90 percent of our cargo business is from charter operations because Vatry has a great cargo infrastructure that is available 24 hours a day. Now we also have a great charter aircraft available at the airport that is unrestricted for global operations.” – Jon Ross
