ECT DELTA TERMINALS TO BUY NAVIS TERMINAL SOFTWARE    Europe Container Terminals Delta Terminals BV, the automation-oriented Rotterdam-based terminal operator, has selected Navis LLC to provide systems for terminal management, planning, control and connectivity with the port community.
   ECT Delta Terminals will replace all its current terminal management systems with Navis software in phases over a two-year period.
   ECT Delta Terminals has chosen to implement Navis’ terminal management and process control systems to unite its gate, vessel, rail, yard and berth operations at six facilities inside its massive terminal complex, Navis said.
   The Dutch port operator has also selected Navis’ SPARCS system for real-time graphical planning and control, including PrimeRoute, an advanced technology to optimize the movements of container handling equipment. ECT will also implement Navis’ Express, a comprehensive terminal management database product, to automate all aspects of terminal transactions and work, along with WebAccess, a Web-browser interface for the entire port/terminal community to access real-time container information.
   ECT Delta Terminals presently operates an unmanned container transport system, with over 185 automated guided vehicles and 90 automated stacking cranes.
   Together with Demag Mobile Cranes GmbH, Navis will implement a highly advanced process control system to automate scheduling and guiding the movement of the robotic fleet.
