LNG fueling station opens in Jacksonville

   Clean Energy, the T. Boone Pickens company with plans to develop a nationwide natural gas fueling network, has opened its first liquefied natural gas station in Florida. The facility is located in Jacksonville and will primarily serve heavy-duty trucks.
   UPS and Raven Transport are the first two trucking companies that have committed to use the facility.
   Clean Energy also said it opened new LNG stations in Fontana, Calif., and Pontoon Beach, Ill.
   The fuel will be trucked to the Jacksonville station from production sites in the Southeast.
   Many motor carriers are exploring LNG as a power source for their fleets because of its lower cost and lower emissions of smog-forming chemicals.
