Worth Hager, waterways advocate, dies Worth Hager, former president of the National Waterways Conference, died in her sleep on Friday, the association informed members in an e-mail.
   Hager, 51, worked for the water resources advocacy group for 26 years, the last six as its president. She had resigned earlier this summer to pursue other opportunities, according to associates.
   The National Waterways Conference is an umbrella organization for waterways associations and includes carriers, shippers, waterway services and public agencies as its members. It promotes investment in inland, coast and Great Lakes waterways to improve transportation efficiency and help control flooding.
   A funeral service will be held 4-6 p.m. today at Arlington Funeral Home, 3901 Fairfax Dr., Arlington Va.
   Worth will be buried on Saturday in her hometown of Asheboro N.C.
   She is survived by her husband Peter Gatti, who is executive vice president of the National Industrial Transportation League.
