InMotion Global consolidates system offerings

Decision to phase out the TMS provider’s LITE platform and focus on its Ascend product comes after management acquired the business from a private equity holding company in January.    The transportation management system provider InMotion Global will consolidate its TMS offerings from July, migrating all current users of its LITE TMS platform onto its new Ascend TMS product.
   The LITE TMS system will be discontinued in July 2015 and all existing users will be then required to use Ascend TMS, the company said.
   InMotion Global’s TMS products are used by freight brokers, 3PLs, carriers, distributors, and shippers in 19 countries.
   “After we acquired InMotion Global from Palm Beach Capital in January, the management team decided that we could quickly add more features by focusing on one TMS offering rather than two”, said InMotion Global Chief Operating Officer Chris Parker.
   Ascend TMS is offered at no cost for the base system, can be launched from a website by new users, and doesn’t require contracts.
   “We are a little different in that we build any feature our user’s request, for free, so long as it benefits the entire Ascend TMS™ user community,” Parker said.
   An as example, InMotion is adding a load tracking service in June that allows users to track any load in the United States using the driver’s cell phone number, giving the location of the truck to within about 10 feet. The service also provides a history of prior captured locations, the calculated average speed of the truck, and the resulting estimated time of arrival for the load based on those metrics.
