INSIGHT focuses on supply chain big data

   INSIGHT Inc., a provider of supply chain planning services, is pushing a new set of supply chain related prescriptive analytics and strategies around the “big data” that’s currently collected from integrated supply chain networks.
   INSIGHT said companies can use big data to better analyze their operations only if they have a way to break down the information into processes and costs related to procurement, manufacturing, distribution, customer service, inventory deployment, and marketing.
   “Big data’s potential goes beyond traditional ‘rear view’ business intelligence, revealing patterns to facilitate making a quantum leap from incremental improvement to predictive business processes and even entirely new business models,” said Jeff Karrenbauer, president of INSIGHT. “It is what we can help them do with this data that provides enormous potential.”
   For INSIGHT, big data applies to operations like combining RFID tags, social media, and GPS services to evaluate production selection and consumer profiles around geographically specific product deployment and promotions for mobile devices.
