Coast Guard, MarAd receive LNG port application    The U.S. Coast Guard and Maritime Administration said they have received an application from Compass Port LLC to build a liquified natural gas deepwater port.
   The 1974 Deepwater Port Act requires the agencies to rigorously review all LNG terminal plans.
   Compass Port want to build its LNG terminal in the Mobile Outer Continental Shelf and Mississippi Sound areas in the Gulf of Mexico. The terminal would include the construction of 26.8 miles of natural gas pipelines, which would connect to the existing gas distribution pipelines near Coden, Ala.
   According to Compass Port’s application, the port would be designed to handle a nominal capacity of 7.5 million metric tons per year of LNG.
