The Maya Express will use one 300-TEU ship calling Miami, Saint Thomas, Guatemala and Puerto Cortes in Honduras. El Salvador and Nicaragua will also be served by inland routes.
The French carrier said that it plans to deploy higher-capacity vessels on the service in the near future.
“This new service is a first step for CMA CGM Group in a key and highly competitive market and it confirms our expansion strategy in the Caribbean and Central America,” said Laurent Falgui're, CMA CGM’s deputy vice president for the Caribbean and Latin America lines, in a statement.
