FLAGSHIP CUSTOMS SERVICES PROVIDES MQ LINK TO U.S. CUSTOMS SYSTEM    Flagship Customs Services has started a service that allows import entry filers and their software vendors to use “message queuing” technology to communicate more efficiently with U.S. Customs’ umbrella system.
   MQ*Customs Service is a secure, encrypted Internet/MQ VPN link to Customs’ systems modules: Automated Broker Interface, Automated Export System and Automated Manifest System, said the Silver Spring, Md.-based Internet applications developer. Customs wants import filers to switch from slower dial-up procedures to MQ.
   MQ*Customs is already used by Inchcape Shipping for filing manifest data to AMS, and Emery Forwarding to complete its connection to AES.
   CBCC, a developer of customs broker software, will build an interface to MQ*Customs to allow its customers to file ABI entries using MQ technology.
   “It is just not economical for our customers to spend thousands of dollars on software and communications to install and maintain their own MQ connection to USCS (U.S. Customs Service),” said William Farkas of CBCC. “By using the FCS MQ*Customs VPN Service we are able to provide an affordable alternative for them and allow them to remain competitive with other brokerage firms.”
