Cargolux launches new route between China, U.S.

Cargolux recently introduced its first commercial service from its hub in Zhengzhou, China, to Atlanta on a flight that originates and ends in the all-cargo airline’s home base in Luxembourg.

   Cargolux Airlines has added Atlanta, Ga. to its destinations served from Zhengzhou, China, making Georgia’s capital city the second destination to receive direct connections to and from the Luxembourg-based all-cargo carrier’s Chinese hub after Chicago.
   On June 30, Cargolux introduced its first commercial service from Zhengzhou to Atlanta, in combination with Chicago, on a flight that originates and ends in Luxembourg. The regular flight is scheduled to depart Zhengzhou at 8:45 a.m. Sundays and arrive in Atlanta on 12:50 p.m. local time. On the westbound lane, the flight leaves Atlanta at 2:50 p.m. on Sundays and arrives in Zhengzhou at 9:15 p.m. local time.
   A second new service from Zhengzhou to Atlanta was inaugurated July 4, leaving Zhengzhou at 7:15 a.m. Wednesdays and arriving in Atlanta at 2:30 p.m. local time. Cargolux also connects Zhengzhou and Chicago with direct flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
   On July 2, Cargolux began offering four scheduled weekly flights to and from the capital city of Quito, Ecuador. The freighter routes originate in Luxembourg and operate through Curitiba, Viracopos and Mexico, respectively, before landing in Quito. The flights then go on to Amsterdam and back to Luxembourg.
   “With the new flights, Cargolux is able to offer additional capacity to and from China and give shippers in the United States more reliable and fast connections to Chinese producers and consumers,” the airline said in a statement.
