MercuryGate extends tracking capability with MacroPoint

The transportation management system provider had already been using MacroPoint’s load visibility tool via driver cell phone, but has extended its use of MacroPoint’s technology to include EDI messages and ELD data.    The freight tracking software provider MacroPoint said this week that MercuryGate, a developer of transportation management systems (TMS), will extend its use of MacroPoint’s technology to more devices.
   MercuryGate, an early adopter of MacroPoint’s load status visibility platform, will now use multiple forms of tracking. MercuryGate’s integration with the load tracking solution was previously enabled via cell phone, but the TMS provider will now provide direct carrier integration through in-cab telematics systems, electronic data interchange (EDI) and trailer tracking technologies.
   “MacroPoint is one of the market leaders in providing load tracking solutions and has been a valued partner,” said Vikram Balasubramanian, senior vice president, strategic product development at MercuryGate International. “MacroPoint complements MercuryGate TMS, which provides control tower visibility that enables organizations to proactively resolve supply chain disruptions.”
   MacroPoint’s solution is integrated with dozens of TMS providers, as well as freight brokers, carriers and shippers. The tool allows companies to track loads in real-time, rather than through phone-oriented status checks to drivers.
