Navis supplies IT to London Gateway

   Cargotec said its Navis subsidiary has been picked to supply a terminal operating system for DP World’s London Gateway port.
   The decision follows London Gateway’s announcement late last year to have Cargotec supply 40 Kalmar automatic stacking cranes with related technology and 28 Kalmar shuttle carriers for the new facility.
   The project is the first joint Navis-Cargotec deployment of software with automated container handling equipment.
   “We will ensure London Gateway sets world class standards of productivity and customer service,” said London Gateway Chief Executive Officer Simon Moore. “Central to achieving this goal is the ability to move, track and store containers efficiently, which our partners Cargotec and Navis will help us accomplish.”
   Navis’s SPARCS N4 system will be used to run automated processes at London Gateway’s gate, in the container yard and at the rail terminal with its automated container handling equipment. In addition, SPARCS N4 will manage the transfer of containers to and from the adjacent logistics park.
   The anticipated Navis deployment at London Gateway is set for the fourth quarter of 2013.
