CargoSphere releases rate update feature

   The cloud-based global freight rate management solution provider CargoSphere said Tuesday it has released a new feature aimed at allowing logistics service providers (LSPs) to quickly and efficiently refresh rate quotes.
   The feature, Floodgate Quote Refresh, is designed to give freight forwarders and non-vessel operating common carriers the ability to automate the rate update process.
   “Over the past four months, Unique Logistics International reviewed several rate management companies,” said David Hickmott, partner and executive vice president of Unique Logistics. “During the process, we found that none of the other companies could meet our requirement of refreshing rate quotes. CargoSphere was perceptive to understand that this was a deal breaker. It turns out they were already developing their Floodgate feature, which was exactly what we needed.”
   The CargoSpehere Rate Network allows allows forwarders and NVOs to create quote packages from carrier contract rates managed on the CargoSphere system and confidential rates received from other sources, such as agent partners.
   “Our freight forwarder and NVO customers have been asking for relief from the time consuming task of managing carrier amendments and non-stop freight rate changes,” said CargoSphere President Neil Barni. “Amazingly, it is not uncommon for some contracts to have over 100 amendments in one year.” – Eric Johnson
