CBP sets year-end immediate delivery option

CBP sets year-end immediate delivery option Customs and Border Protection's Office of Trade Policy and Programs is now offering blanket authorizations for its 'Immediate Delivery' (ID) procedure through Dec. 31 to allow filers to take advantage of Harmonized Tariff Schedule rules before changes take effect on or after Jan. 1, 2008.
   CBP Miami Service Port director Christopher Maston said in an information bulletin to the trade the blanket authorization covers ID requests from Dec. 14 through Dec. 31.
   The blanket authorization does not apply to absolute quota merchandise and merchandise moved under a 'type 61' immediate transportation entry. Tariff rate quota merchandise previously authorized for ID release under 19 CFR 142.21(e) may still be released under ID, the bulletin noted. However, the entry summary will be presented within the time specified in 19 CFR 142.23, or within the quota period, whichever expires first.
